Do I have to pay for an API key?
No, if you use local Whisper: it is free and runs offline. Groq has a free tier that covers most creators. OpenAI and Gemini bill you directly, at their own rates. Keys are stored on your computer only.
What is the difference between Free and Pro?
The Free plan has every caption style and feature for up to 5 videos a day, 2 minutes each, for personal use, with a Captixa.com watermark on exports. Pro removes the limits and the watermark, and adds a commercial license, priority support and early access to new features.
Will it get my language right?
Captixa transcribes 50 languages with Whisper and times every word. You can fix any word, sentence or timing in the editor before you export.
Does it work on Mac?
Yes. Captixa runs on Windows 10/11 and macOS.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Your video stays on your computer. With Groq or OpenAI only the extracted audio is sent for transcription, and with local Whisper nothing leaves your machine.
I don't have a gaming PC. Will it run?
Yes. Captixa runs on any 64-bit computer with 4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended) and exports on the CPU. An NVIDIA or Intel GPU on Windows just makes export faster.
Can I make my own caption style?
Yes. Start from any of the 108 presets, change the font, colors, gradient, glow, shadow and animation, and save the result as a template of your own. It appears under "Mine" in every project, and you can apply it to all captions or to a single line.
What do the Pro tools add?
Jump cuts (pauses and filler words), AI voice cleanup, transparent caption export (ProRes 4444, WebM, PNG) and batch captions. On the Free plan you can set all four up and preview them; when you export, Captixa lists the ones in use so you can upgrade or export without them.
Can I use it for client work?
Yes. Pro includes a commercial license, and client footage never leaves your machine.
How many computers can I use my license on?
One at a time. To switch, deactivate the old computer from your dashboard and activate the new one. You can do this any time.
How do I get my license?
Your license key is shown right after checkout and emailed to you. Open Captixa, go to License, paste the key and click Activate.
What's your refund policy?
Try everything on the Free plan first: every caption style, and the Pro tools to set up and preview, with a watermark on exports. A license that has never been activated can be refunded; email us from the address you bought with. Once a license is activated on a computer, the sale is final, except for exceptional cases such as a duplicate charge or buying the wrong plan by mistake.
