Terms of Service

1. The agreement

By downloading, installing or using Captixa (“the software”), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't install it. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are allowed to do so.

2. Your license

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the software. The software is licensed, not sold, so we keep ownership of it. This is separate from your ownership of the videos you caption with it, covered in section 3.

• The Free plan needs no account and no license key. It is for personal, non-commercial use.
• A Pro license works on one computer at a time. Moving to a new computer is fine: deactivate the old one from your dashboard, then activate the new one.
• You may not resell, sublicense, rent or redistribute the software or your license key.
• You may not get around the Free plan's limits or watermark, or the license check, or share a key publicly. Keys found shared publicly are revoked without a refund.
• You may not decompile or reverse-engineer the software, except where the law allows it regardless of this rule.

3. Your videos and acceptable use

You own the videos you caption with Captixa. With Pro, that includes commercial use: client work, sponsored posts, courses and anything else you have the right to publish.

Captixa only adds captions to footage you provide, so you need the rights to that footage and its audio. Caption preset names describe a style; Captixa isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any creator named in them.

You agree not to use the software to:

• Caption content that is illegal to make or share where you live.
• Caption content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or likeness rights.
• Impersonate or defame a real person, or mislead viewers about what someone said.
• Break the terms or usage limits of an AI provider you connect.

We don't review what you caption, and as the privacy policy explains, we hold no copy of your videos. That is why you are responsible for following this section. If we learn that a license is being used to break it, we may end that license.

4. Plans and billing

• Free plan: every caption style and feature, up to 5 videos a day, each up to 2 minutes, for personal use. Videos exported on the Free plan carry a Captixa.com watermark.
• Pro: unlimited videos of any length, no watermark, a commercial license, priority support and early access to new features. Prices for each Pro plan are on the pricing page and are charged in the currency shown at checkout.
• Monthly and yearly Pro plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and Pro keeps working until the end of the period you paid for.
• A lifetime Pro license is a single payment with no renewal.
• When a Pro plan ends, Captixa goes back to the Free plan. Videos you have already exported are not changed.
• We may change prices for future purchases and renewals. An existing lifetime license is never charged again.

5. Refunds

Please try everything on the Free plan first. It is the full app with every style and feature, so you can find out if Captixa is right for you before you pay.

Once a license has been activated on a computer, the sale is final. A license that was bought but never activated can be refunded: email liaqateagle786@gmail.com from the address you bought with. Outside that, we only consider refunds in exceptional cases, such as a duplicate charge or buying the wrong plan by mistake, at our discretion.

6. AI providers and third-party software

Captixa can connect, with your own API keys, to Groq, OpenAI and Gemini for transcription, translation and Roman-script conversion. Your use of each provider also falls under that provider's own terms. We don't control, and are not responsible for, how a provider handles your request, what it charges you, or changes it makes to its service. Local Whisper runs on your computer and needs no provider.

The software includes open-source components, including FFmpeg and whisper.cpp, and bundled fonts, each under its own license. Those licenses still apply to those components.

7. Accuracy and updates

Speech-to-text can mishear words, names and slang. Check your captions before you publish; every word can be edited in the app. Updates are included in every plan. We can't promise that a third-party provider will keep working or keep the same pricing, because that is outside our control.

8. Warranty

The software is provided “as is”. Beyond what the law requires, we don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. If you have legal consumer rights, nothing here takes them away.

9. Liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost profit, or any claim about content you chose to caption or publish. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud.

10. Termination

You can stop using the software at any time. We may end a license if these terms are broken, especially section 3 or the rules in section 2. If we end a license for a reason that is not your fault, we refund the unused part.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top changes, and we email account holders about significant changes. If you keep using the software after a change, you accept the updated terms.
