Getting Started

Install Captixa on Windows or Mac

Download the right installer, get past the first-launch security prompt, and open Captixa for the first time.

Captixa runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and on macOS, with separate builds for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. The download includes the Free plan, so you need no account and no card.

1. Download

Go to the download page. It highlights the build for your computer. On a Mac, pick Apple silicon if your Mac has an M1 chip or newer, and Intel otherwise: Apple menu, then About This Mac, tells you which.

2. Install on Windows

  1. Run the installer (the file name ends in _x64-setup.exe).
  2. If a blue "Windows protected your PC" box appears, choose More info, then Run anyway. This SmartScreen prompt shows for new releases.
  3. Follow the installer. It installs for your Windows account, so no administrator password is needed.

3. Install on a Mac

  1. Open the .dmg and drag Captixa into Applications.
  2. The first time, right-click Captixa in Applications, choose Open, then Open again.
  3. If macOS says the app is damaged, see this fix.

4. First launch

Captixa opens on the home screen: Overview (your plan and usage), Projects, Settings and License. Before your first video, pick a transcription engine in Settings: see Choose a transcription engine.
